About
Welcome to CBClayworks! I’m Christina Barone, and I’m thrilled to share my love of pottery with you.
I first connected with the medium as a teenager, falling in love with the meditative process of wheel throwing. After many years away in a career behind a screen, I returned to clay and fell in love all over again. First through classes in San Francisco, then studio membership, allowing me to spend nearly all my evenings and weekends with my hands in clay. Now I am thrilled to work from my own home studio in Berkeley, CA, where my husband and I live with our cat and dog.
The innate variability, personality, and malleability of ceramics has always been what draws me to it most. The core of my work are the altered forms - pieces first wheel thrown, and then bent, indented, pulled, twisted, and carved into something new. Nature inspires the final forms and glazes, lending its style to my work’s abstract curves, representative blooms, and flowing, organic glazes.
